Team Up to Help the Hungry

The teams of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment including the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Mammoth, Colorado Rapids and Altitude Sports & Entertainment hosted Lift Up America food distribution at Pepsi Center on Thursday, December 13. Lift Up America is made possible by a donation of 30,000 pounds of protein from Tyson Chicken and nearly 60 local food banks – partners of Food Bank of the Rockies were the grateful recipients.

FBR Receives 30,000 Pounds of Protein from Tyson KSE CFO Bruce Glazer and Players to Support Distribution Efforts

WHAT

Tyson Foods is partnering with Lift Up America and Kroenke Sports Charities to donate 30,000 pounds of protein to FBR. This contribution will be distributed to more than 50 local food agencies.     

Interviews and photo opportunities with representatives from each organization will be available throughout the event.

WHY

The event is significant because:

•  An estimated 5.7 million people receive emergency food assistance each week, and more than one in every three households experience very low food security, according to the 2010 Hunger in America Report.
  
• Lift Up America and Tyson Foods have established a unique partnership with professional and college sports teams from around the U.S., to create awareness of the needs that exist within our country, and to encourage leaders from all walks of life to come together in creative, compassionate ways to address those needs.
• The need for food assistance is greater than ever. Last year, FBR distributed more than 35.7 million pounds of food, through a network of more than 1,100 not-for-profit agencies.
  
• For the past 10 years, Tyson has been actively engaged in hunger relief. Since 2000, the company has donated nearly 90 million pounds of protein.
